SALT LAKE CITY - Rae Falatea had a career-high 20 points after going 4-of-6 from long range and Westminster women's basketball (15-9, 14-5 RMAC) outscored the Rangers by 25 in the opening half and won, 82-56, on Saturday night at Behnken Field House.
Sarah McGinley finished with 17 points on 6-of-8 shooting in her final regular-season game at Behnken Field House while
Abby Mangum had 13 points, seven rebounds and three assists.Â
Hunter Krebs also reached double digits on her Senior Night, scoring 10 points to along with four boards despite being forced to sit due to foul trouble for large stretches of the game.
The Griffins came out with one of their best offensive quarters of the season to begin Saturday's home finale, shooting a combined 12-of-17 as a team in the first which included 3-of-4 from long range.Â
Westminster finished with 27 points in the quarter, its second-highest scoring quarter of the season and carried a 13-2 run into the second quarter to build a 30-13 lead. On the run, Westminster held Regis to just 1-of-8 shooting as a team.
The Griffins then closed the first half on another big run, outscoring the Ranger 12-2 to end the first half on a run in which
Rae Falatea went 3-of-3 with seven points to lead a Griffins team that went 5-of-5 as a group to end the period.Â
Westminster will continue its push to improve its playoff seeding next week in its final two regular season games of the season as it travels to play at Fort Lewis and Western Colorado.
