Griffins to Welcome Fans Back Into Behnken Field House Tonight

Westminster men's basketball will host Colorado Mesa and S.D. School of Mines this week.

SALT LAKE CITY - Westminster men's basketball (8-12, 6-8 RMAC) gets set to welcome back fans into Behnken Field House as it hosts a pair of midweek RMAC contests beginning tonight with a game against Colorado Mesa (16-8, 10-5 RMAC) followed by a Thursday battle with S.D. School of Mines (7-13, 5-9 RMAC), both games tipping-off at 7 p.m.

Game Info:
- Tuesday and Thursday's men's basketball game will be hosted at the Behnken Field House. General admission into all games is $8.
-  Tickets for all home basketball games can be purchased at westminstergriffins.com/tickets.

- Westminster has dropped four straight after an 0-2 weekend at home this past last week.
- The Griffins were within a single possession with under four minutes to play on Friday night against Western Colorado, but gave up a string of three's and eventually fell, 76-67 to begin the weekend.
- Westminster led at halftime and were tied with Fort Lewis with just over three minutes to play, but could not find any offense down the stretch in a 67-59 loss on Saturday.
- Reme Torbert has led the Griffins in scoring over the last five games in which he has averaged 11.4 ppg with 12 made three-pointers.
- Yusuf Mohamed leads the Griffins in rebounding at 5.8 rpg while Brayden Johnson has pulled in a team-leading 39 offensive boards on the season.

About the Mavericks (16-8, 10-5 RMAC):
- CMU has split each of its past three weekends,  two at home and one from the road, after a stretch of six-consecutive conference wins in December and January.
- Colorado Mesa defeated 12th-ranked Regis, 86-80, back on Sat., Jan. 22 on the road in Denver.
- The Mavericks began last weekend with an 83-77 loss at home to Fort Lewis, but rebounded with a 50-point second half to beat Western Colorado, 81-72.
- CMU is 5-4 away from home so far this season including three road RMAC wins.
- Trevor Baskin is the team's leading scorer at 13.6 ppg while Blaise Threatt is a close second at 13.3 ppg.
- CMU has three players at over 5.0 rpg and are lead by Threatt who averages 5.6 boards per night.
- Georgie Dancer has started 20 games for the Mavericks and leads the team with 3.6 assists per night.
- Series History:
    - Westminster has split the 14 matchups with Colorado Mesa since reinstating the men's basketball program back in 1999-2000.
    - The Griffins went on a four-game winning streak from 2016 to 2018 but Colorado Mesa has won four of the last five matchups including a three-point win last season in Grand Junction.
    - Westminster is 5-2 against the Mavericks at home in Salt Lake City where they have won four of the last five matchups.

About the Hardrockers (8-12, 6-8 RMAC):

- S.D. School of Mines has dropped five of its last six games overall and narrowly defeated Chadron State, 65-62, for its only win during that stretch.
- The Hardrockers went 0-2 at home last weekend, falling, 91-81 to N.M. Highlands to begin the weekend on Friday night.
- S.D. School of Mines was outscored by seven in the second half (32-25) the following night to lose, 69-61, to UC-Colorado Springs despite leading on its home court with under ten minutes to play.
- Brevin Walter is the leading scorer for the Hardrockers at 15.9 ppg and has connected on a team-high 2.1 three's per game.
- Alejandro Rama is second on the team with 14.8 ppg while Kolten Mortensen is averaging 13.7 ppg heading into the week.
- Series History:
    - Westminster owns the lead in the series 4-3 and has won three of the last four.
- The Griffins have now won back-to-back matchups against the Hardrockers after a 68-48 win in Rapid City, S.D., last season.
- Westminster is 2-1 all-time at home against S.D. School of Mines and won 75-70 in the last meeting at Behnken Field House back in Dec. of 2019.

Westminster will be back on the road next weekend as it travels to Colorado to take on CSU Pueblo on Fri., Feb. 11, followed by a game at Adams State on Sat., Feb. 12.
