Salt Lake City, UT - The weather may be getting cooler, but the Westminster Griffins Women's Soccer team is heating up at the right time, as they continue their winning ways to capture their fifth straight win as they saw four different Griffins score in the first half of action as they cruised through the Cowgirls of New Mexico Highlands 6-1 on Dumke Field.
The first goal of the game was scored by
Alexa Maple scoring her fourth of the year as
Madison Schmidt got the assist, next wasa
Cassidy Orr scoring her fourth goal as well that was unassisted, the third goal was by
Alex Hoffman scoring her fifth goal of the season.
The final Griffins goal of the half came by Cassidy Jacskon striking her third goal of the year, but the final goal of the half squeezed by Kelseas Cracroft late in the first half of play as the Griffins entered their lockerr oom leading 4-1.
The final two goals of the night under the lights were by
Hannah Holmstead on the PK to score the fifth goal of the night, but that wasn't the only PK on the night as
Emma Whiteley scored the sixth and final goal in the win. Those were two of the 30 plus shots which is a season is a season high on the stat sheet for the Griffins in the win.
Playing on their home field has been a great time for the Griffins as they extended their home record to 5-0-1 this season with one more game left to play at home in the regular season.
Cracroft played the first 45 as
Mashaun Estridge played the final 45 allowing 0 goals in her goalkeeping half and made her presence known with key saves down the stretch.
