Volleyball Back at Home This Week In Search of First RMAC Win

Westminster will host Adams State on Thursday night before taking on N.M. Highlands on Friday.

SALT LAKE CITY - Westminster volleyball (2-7, 0-2 RMAC) will seek its first conference win of the season this weekend as it hosts Adams State (6-5, 2-0 RMAC) Thursday night beginning at 6 p.m., followed by a Friday night match against N.M. Highlands at 6 p.m., both at the Behnken Field House.

-  Tickets for Thursday's match can be purchased at westminstergriffins.com/tickets.
-  General admission into Dumke Field is $8. 
-  Current Westminster College students, faculty and staff are offered free admission into all WC home events but are required to present an active Westminster Identification Card to gain entry. 
-  All Westminster volleyball home matches are available for FREE streaming on the RMAC Network.  Viewers can watch live online or download the RMAC Network app from all major video streaming app stores.

About the Griffins:
- Westminster pushed 11th-ranked Colorado School of Mines to a fourth set after a dominant first set in last Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Orediggers.
- The Griffins dropped their home opener to 24th-ranked Colorado Mesa on Friday night.
- Freshman libero, Alanna Lee, is averaging 3.39 digs/set.
- Lydia Parkinson (Miller) leads the Griffins with 2.44 kills/set and has 63 digs and 11 blocks defensively.
- Bri Mortensen is seventh in the conference in assists (245) and is averaging 7.9 assists/set.
- Freshman middle, Avery Alger, is ninth in the RMAC in hitting percentage (.325).

About the Grizzlies:
- Adams State begins the week after a 2-0 start to conference play last week, defeating CCU, 3-2 (13-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-20, 15-9), and Chadron State, 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-16).
- The Grizzlies took down the second-ranked team in the nation earlier this season, beating No. 2 Angelo State, 3-0, at the 2021 Britkare Lady Buff Classic.
- Following Thursday's match, ASU will travel to Grand Junction, Colo., to play Colorado Mesa on Friday night.
- Both Madeleine Benally (5.38 a/s) and Bailey Schlosser (3.50 a/s) split time setting the ASU offense.
- Alexandra MacAskill and Chasey Blach lead the team with 2.0 kills/set.
- MacAskill (1.5 blk/set) and Blach (1.25) are also the only two Grizzlies who have already reached double digit-blocks on the season.

About the Cowgirls:
- N.M. Highlands went 1-1 last weekend to begin conference play and heads into the weekend off of a 3-2 win over Eastern New Mexico on Tuesday.
- The Cowgirls got off to a slow start, going 1-6 to start the campaign. N.M. Highlands has since gone 3-1 over its past four with a pair of five-set wins.
- N.M. Highlands will travel to Grand Junction, Colo. to take on Colorado Mesa on Saturday night.
