SALT LAKE CITY—The Griffins played their final game of the 2021 season Sunday afternoon on Dumke Field against No. 24 Colorado Mesa. Seniors

Audree Erekson and
Mikala Davis were recognized before the start of the game.
The Griffins scored five goals in a 5-24 defeat to the Mavericks.
Lauren Shoughro,
Eloise White and
Maddie Kelleher each scored a goal in the first half.
Eden Freiberg and
Melissa Reeves both scored in the second half.
The Griffins kept it close for the opening quarter of the game.
Grace Carico assisted Shoughro for Westminster's opening goal which made it a one-point game. They had a chance to tie it at two goals apiece on a free position shot but were called for a procedural infraction turning the ball over to the Mavericks.
Mesa scored two more to go up by three. White, assisted by Freiberg, scored near the quarter mark to make it 2-4. The Mavericks finished the half with a 10-1 run for a commanding lead, 11-3.
Westminster limited the visitors to six goals in the second half. Walker assisted Freiberg for a goal 16 minutes into the second half and Reeves completed the scoring with a little under two minutes remaining in the game.
The Griffins led the game with 35 ground balls.
Mikala Davis made save saves and led the team with seven ground balls.
Emmaline Russell picked up five and led the team with four caused turnovers.
Freiberg led the Griffins with two points. Walker, Shoughro, Reeves, White, Carico a,d Kelleher each had one points.
