PUEBLO, Colo.—
Melissa Reeves led the Griffins with three goals and two assists in an 11-15 defeat at CSU Pueblo on Sunday.
Trailing by two at the end of the first half, Westminster came within one goal of tying the game with 10 minutes left to play. The Thunderwolves began the second half with two goals for a four-point lead.
Lauren Shoughro and Reeves both scored two goals in a 5-2 run with the Griffins trailing by a goal, 10-11.
The Thunderwolves regained control with four in a row.
Eden Freiberg completed a hat-trick scoring the final goal of the game.
Reeves and Freiberg both completed hat tricks. Reeves scored three goals and had two assists for five points and Freiberg had three goals and a single assist for four points.
Phebe Walker had three points from one goal and two assists, Shoughro scored twice, and Madalyn Degarlais and
Grace Carico rounded out the scoring with a goal apiece.
Riley Weldon recorded a team high four groundballs.
Emmaline Russell, Shoughro and
Mikala Davis each picked up three. Shoughro led the team with three caused turnovers followed closely by Russell and
Hannah Kelleher with two each.
Mikala Davis made 13 saves while facing 35 shots between the pipes.
The Griffins host UCCS on Tuesday, Apr. 20, at 7 pm on Dumke Field.
