SALT LAKE CITY—The Westminster women's volleyball team recognized seniors
Audrey Green,
Taylor Harvey and
Tasha Arnold before the final match of the season against Colorado Christian.
The Griffins started with a win in the opening set. The Griffins scored seven straight for a four-point lead, 11-7. The Cougars tied the set at 18 but a 6-1 Westminster run put the Griffins ahead by five, 24-19. Green closed the set with a kill for the 25-21 win.
CCU won the second set, 25-21. The visitors took control of the second half after Westminster began with a 6-2 lead. CCU took the lead, 12-9, with a 9-3 run.
Westminster came back to win the third set, 25-23. The Cougars jumped out to a five-point lead early and led for most of the set. Green served up three aces and kills by
Lydia Miller and
Maya Hamaoka propelled the Griffins to overtake the Cougars for the set.
Momentum from the end of the third set carried into the fourth as the Griffins began the set with a 5-0 lead. The Cougars went on a 7-1 run to take their only lead in the set. The lead lasted for one-point as the Griffins responded with a 9-4 run to finish the set and win the match.
Green led the Griffins with 15 kills, six aces and 17 digs. Hamaoka recorded a season-high 13 kills and
Malinda Messner reached double-digits with 10 kills.
Lydia Miller hit at a clip of .333 for nine kills with zero attacking errors.
Bri Mortensen had 43 assists and recorded 13 digs. Miller and
Katie Jacox reached double-digit digs with 12 and 11, respectively. Messner led the team with six blocks.
Breanna Allen led the Cougars with 12 kills. Maddie Burns posted 41 assists and Christa Tucker led the cougars with 22 digs.
