RAPID CITY, S.D.—Men's basketball defeated South Dakota School of Mines, 68-48, to end a four-game losing streak.
Westminster (6-7, 6-7 RMAC) outshot the Hardrockers (7-7,7-7 RMAC) 48.3% to 32.8% from the field and outscored them 36-22 in the paint and 26-6 from the bench.
The first half was closer than the final score suggests. With 7 lead changes, the Griffins made an 8-0 run at the end of the half to take a 7-0 lead. A 12-5 run to start the second half increased the lead to 14. The lead would remain in double figures the rest of the night.
Reme Torbert led the team with 15 points, shooting 6-12 from the field and 3-7 from three.
Isaiah Banks scored 13 shooting 6-9 from the field and
Jarrett Jordan scored 11 shooting 4-5 from the field, 1-1 from three and 2-2 from the stripe.
Banks led the team with six rebounds and two steals.
Jarrett Jordan grabbed five rebounds and
Matt Kitzman and
Brayden Johnson each had four. Johnson led the team with two blocks and Kitman led the team with four assists.
The Griffins return to home to play Adams State on Friday, Feb. 12, and CSU-Pueblo on Saturday, Feb. 13.
