LAKEWOOD, Colo. - Hunter Krebs had a season-high 19 points and Westminster women's basketball (3-3, 2-0 RMAC) finished with a 28-22 edge in points in the paint in a 66-59 win over Colorado Christian (3-5, 0-2 RMAC) on Sunday at the CCU Event Center.
Ashley Greenwood finished with 16 points on 4-of-9 shooting that included 2-of-2 from long range and also pulled in six rebounds and tallied four assists.Â

Abby Mangum each had three assists and combined for 15 rebounds while Mangum added three steals defensively. McGinley, who transferred from Colorado Christian back in 2019, had nine points on 3-of-6 shooting on Sunday and is now 4-0 against her old team.
Westminster led by as many as 17 midway through the second quarter in which they went 7-of-12 (58 percent) shooting to hold onto the double-digit lead they crafted in the first. Westminster outscored the Cougars 22-12 in the first quarter after closing the quarter on a 13-2 run. The Griffins combined to shoot 14-of-27 (52 percent) in the opening half with five made three-pointers to carry a nine-point, 38-29 lead into the halftime break. Westminster maintained its double-digit lead through the majority of the third period as they held CCU to just 5-of-16 (31 percent) shooting overall and 0-of-6 from long range in the quarter.Â
The Griffins suffered from six fourth-quarter turnovers but again held Colorado Christian to just 5-of-16 shooting in the final period. The Cougars cut the Westminster lead to as little as five midway through the fourth, but again missed five three-pointers while the Griffins went 5-of-6 at the free throw line and 3-of-5 from the field in the final frame to close out their second-straight conference win to begin the 2021-22 RMAC schedule.
Westminster has now won six of the last seven matchups against Colorado Christian including three-straight wins in Lakewood at the CCU Event Center. The Griffins, who are 2-0 to begin the conference season, have now won six of the last seven regular season RMAC games dating back to last season.
The Griffins will now prepare to host its home opener next week as it takes on Chadron State and Black Hills State on Friday and Saturday, respectively, back at the Behnken Field House.
