Volleyball to Host Senior Day Saturday Against 23rd-Ranked Regis

Westminster will play its regular-season and home finale this Saturday against No. 23 Regis at 4 p.m.

SALT LAKE CITY - Westminster volleyball (5-22, 3-14 RMAC) will host its regular-season and home finale this Saturday afternoon as it takes on No. 23 Regis (19-5, 14-2 RMAC) at the Behnken Field House beginning at 4 p.m.  Prior to Saturday's match, Westminster will honor its three graduating seniors; Katie Jacox, Katie Culver, and Holland Vande Merwe.

Match Info: 
-  Tickets for all Westminster volleyball home matches can be purchased online at westminstergriffins.com/tickets
-  General admission into Behnken Field House is $8.
-  Current Westminster College students, faculty and staff are offered free admission into all WC home events but are required to present an active Westminster Identification Card to gain entry. 
-  All Westminster volleyball  matches are available for FREE streaming on the RMAC Network.  Viewers can watch live online or download the RMAC Network app from all major video streaming app stores.

Senior Day 2021:
- Katie Culver - Helena, Mont.
   
-  Daughter of Brenda and Britt Culver, she also has one brother, Barron.
    -  Committed to Westminster from Capital High School in Helena, Montana, where she graduated as her class valedictorian in 2018.
    -  Has appeared in 66 matches during her career with 24 starts.  She has tallied 55 blocks in 167 sets on the court for the Griffins.
    -  A two-time RMAC All-Academic honor roll member, Katie is a pre-med student with 3.975 cumulative gpa as a biology major and has held a position doing research for the Huntsman Cancer Institute while attending Westminster.
    -  Katie's hobbies include hiking, reading and playing tennis.
- Katie Jacox - Bluffdale, Utah
   
-  Daughter of Sharon Gorman and Jeff Jacox.
    -  She committed to Westminster in August of 2017 while attending Juan Diego Catholic High School in Bluffdale.
    -  Has appeared in 327 sets over 95 matches during her four-year career, starting 58 of them.
    -  Katie is an all-around player for the Griffins with six matches in double digit kills during her career.  She has averaged 1.57 kills/set, 2.59 assists/set and 2.54 digs/set with 43 blocks and a team-leading 33 aces on her senior campaign.
    -  A two-time RMAC All-Academic honoree, she owns a 3.984 cumulative GPA and will graduate with her bachelor's degree in accounting from Westminster. 
- Holland Vande Merwe - Bountiful, Utah
   
Daughter of Adrian and Jamie Vande Merwe.
    -  She committed to Westminster prior to the Spring 2021 season after spending the 2018 & 2019 seasons at Salt Lake Community College.
    -  The two-year libero for the Griffins led the team with 3.13 digs/set in the Spring and has tallied 125 digs during her senior campaign this fall.
    -  Just shy of a 4.0 with a 3.971 cumulative GPA, Holland will graduate with a bachelor's degree in nursing from Westminster.

About the Griffins: 
- Westminster went 0-2 last weekend with a 3-0 loss at No. 11 Colorado School of Mines and a 3-2 loss at Chadron State. 
- The Griffins fell in five sets on Tuesday night at Colorado Mesa in their final road match of the season.
- Westminster had its second-highest attack percentage of the season as a team (.294) on Tuesday night at Colorado Mesa.
- The Griffins had their second-most assists (58) as a team and overcame first and second-set losses to force a fifth set on Tuesday night.
- Avery Alger had a season-high and team-leading 17 kills at Colorado Mesa while Lydia Parkinson (Miller) added 14 and Olivia Curtis finished with 12.
- Bri Mortensen has had back-to-back 50-assist nights with 53 against Chadron State and 50 on Tuesday night at Colorado Mesa.
- Mortensen had another double-double in Tuesday's road match with 13 digs defensively while Sadie Babka led the team with 17 digs on the night.
- The Griffins are 0-6 all-time against Regis since joining the RMAC, losing 3-0 in all six matchups.

About the Rangers:
- Regis has won 14 of its last 15 matches, with its only two conference losses this season coming against 11th-ranked Colorado School of Mines and No. 1 MSU Denver.
- The Rangers moved up one spot to No. 23 in the this week's AVCA NCAA DII Top-25 after a 3-1 win over Adams State and 3-0 sweep of N.M. Highlands last weekend.
- The team was led last week by RMAC Offensive Player of the Week Caitlyn Burroway who tallied 35 kills in only seven sets.
- Burroway leads the team on the season with 3.53 k/set and setter Mara LeGrand has tallied 10.62 assists/set.  Haley Kennedy has a team-leading 35 service aces and also leads the team att 4.0 digs/set.
- Regis is tied for the second spot in the RMAC Volleyball Standings with No. 10 ranked Colorado School of Mines as both teams own a 14-2 conference record going into the final weekend of the regular season.
- The Rangers will be on the road to begin the final week of conference play as they take on Colorado Mesa on Friday night at 7 p.m.

Westminster will turn its attention to the offseason as the Griffins head into the weekend out of contention for a spot in the 2021 RMAC Tournament.
