SALT LAKE CITY - Westminster women's soccer (4-2-2, 1-2-1 RMAC) out-shot Regis (7-3, 4-1 RMAC), 9-4, and 5-2 in shots on goal, but gave up the game's only goal in the second half in a 1-0 loss on Friday night at Dumke Field.
The Griffins held a 6-2 lead in total shots after the first 45 minutes of play but the two sides struggled to a scoreless first half in cold, wet conditions on the turf field.
Westminster created several quality go-ahead opportunities in the offensive third with Regis goalkeeper Katelyn Martin being forced into five saves on the night. The Griffins had a scoring chance glance off of the corner of the Rangers' crossbar early on in the second half but it was Keegan Storlie who broke the deadlock in the 66th minute to put Regis ahead, 1-0.
The Rangers kept Westminster off of the scoresheet en route to a second-consecutive RMAC win.
The Griffins will return to action back at Dumke Field on Sunday when they take on Colorado School of Mines beginning at 12 p.m.
