About the Griffins:
- Westminster began conference play with a 2-1, come-from-behind victory at UCCS last Friday. The Griffins fell behind by a goal on an early second-half penalty but responded just minutes later on a goal from
Luke Merrill followed by what would prove to be a game-winning goal from
Brennan Neeley in the 72nd minute.
- Merrill's goal made him the first Westminster player to score a second goal on the season as eight different Griffins field players have seen the scoresheet so far this fall.
- The Griffins have had goals assisted by five different players this season
- Westminster went behind early to No. 19 CSU Pueblo and were unable to find the net, moving to 1-1 in the RMAC to conclude its first weekend of conference play.
-
Ian Rose has started the last three games in goal of the Griffins and made several momentum-saving stops in last Friday's win over UCCS. Rose made five saves against UCCS and faced a season-high 15 shots in Sunday's loss at CSU Pueblo.
About the Grizzlies:
- Adams State (1-8, 0-2 RMAC) sit at the basement of the RMAC men's soccer standings after a pair of losses to begin conference play last weekend. The Grizzlies fell, 3-0, to Colorado School of Mines last Friday and dropped its second match of the weekend, 1-0, at the hands of Colorado Christian.
- Friday's match will mark the first road conference match of the season for ASU which is currently 0-3 away from home so far this season.
- The Grizzlies have scored a conference-low seven goals through their nine matches (.7 goals/game) and have put a conference-low 56 shots (5.6 shots/game) over that span.
- Westminster owns a 5-1-1 all-time record against Adams State, winning the past two matchups by a score of 5-0.
- The Griffins won the last matchup between the two sides, 2-0, on the road in Alamosa, Colo., back in 2019.
- Amit Hefer helped Westminster to a 3-0 win in the last matchup between the two teams at Dumke Field back in October of 2018.
About the Sky Hawks:
- Westminster defeated Fort Lewis, 2-1, in a come-from-behind win to wrap up non-conference action back on Sept. 26.
- Both teams converted first-half penalty kicks in September's non-conference matchup but it was
Cole Kartchner's 28th-minute goal that proved decisive.
- Fort Lewis (3-4, 1-2 RMAC) heads into the week after defeating N.M. Highlands, 1-0, for its first conference win of the season last Friday.
- Gabriel Legendre continues to lead the Sky Hawks in scoring and is tied for third in the RMAC with five goals on the season.
- Westminster is 6-8-1 in the all-time series against Fort Lewis with the two teams splitting the past four matchups.
- The Sky Hawks have stayed true to their favorite lineups with eight different field players starting all nine matches so far this season.
- Fort Lewis won the last matchup at Dumke Field, 2-0, back in April. The last home win for the Griffins over FLC was a 2-0 win back in 2019.
