Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Griffins Fall on the Road at CSU Pueblo, 2-0

Westminster dropped its second ranked match of the season in a 2-0 loss on the road at CSU Pueblo on Sunday.

PUEBLO, Colo. - Westminster men's soccer (4-6, 1-1 RMAC) was out-shot 10-1 in the first half and 7-2 in shots on goal in a 2-0 loss at No. 19 CSU Pueblo on Sunday afternoon at the Art & Lorraine Gonzales Stadium.

With CSU Pueblo controlling much of the early possession and momentum, Nazar Deputat converted for the Thunderwolves in the 16th minute to give them the early 1-0 advantage.  CSU Pueblo would finish the first half with a 9-1 advantage in shots but saw just the lone goal on the scoresheet through the first 80 minutes of the match.

Westminster was kept alive with the help of five big saves from goalkeeper, Ian Rose, but the Griffins were unable to convert offensively and played from behind through the remainder of the match.

Carlos Sanchis doubled the CSU Pueblo lead in the 80th minute and the Thunderwolves' defense completed the clean sheet performance for their first RMAC win of the season.

The Griffins will play their first home conference matches of the season next weekend as they host Adams State on Friday, Oct. 8, and Fort Lewis College on Sunday, Oct. 10.
