Men's Soccer Set for Second Shot at No. 12 CMU

Westminster will travel to Grand Junction, Colo., to face Colorado Mesa on Wednesday night at 6 p.m.

SALT LAKE CITY - Westminster men's soccer (6-6, 3-1) hopes to push its win streak to three-straight this Wednesday night as it travels to Grand Junction, Colo., to take on 12th-ranked Colorado Mesa (10-2, 4-0 RMAC) beginning at 6 p.m. at Maverick Field.

About the Griffins:
- Westminster heads to Grand Junction on the heels of back-to-back wins at home this past weekend.
- The Griffins put up a season-high six goals in a 6-0 win over Adams State on Friday night in cold, rainy conditions at Dumke Field.
- Westminster then posted its third come-from-behind victory of the season on Sunday.  Max Bingman scored his second goal of the season in the 96th minute to give Westminster the 2-1 overtime win.
- Bingman also assisted the first of three first-half goals against Adams State and scored his first of the year in the 29th minute to double the Westminster lead.
- Adam Koblanski also scored his first goal in the first half vs. Adams State.  Koblanski also converted an 86th-minute penalty kick and scored a third goal just seconds later to finish off a hat trick performance.
- The 6-0 win was the biggest win for Westminster since a 7-0 home win over CSU Pueblo back in October of 2018.  The Griffins also put up seven goals in a 7-0 road win at Colorado Christian earlier that year.
- Goalkeeper Ian Rose is third in the conference with an .814 save percentage, third in saves per game (4.38), and fifth in goals against average (.992).

About the Mavericks:
- Colorado Mesa begins the week in a share of first place in the conference after beginning the season with four-straight conference wins.
- CMU came in at No. 12 in the latest USCA Division II National Coaches' Poll.
- The Mavericks were forced into extra time last Friday but ultimately prevailed, defeating Fort Lewis College, 2-1.
- CMU followed up Friday's win in extra time with a 9-0 win vs. Adams State.
- Connor Durant leads the conference with a .558 goals against average, five shutouts, and an .870 save percentage.
- Alec Fronapfel is tied for fifth in the RMAC with five goals on the season and the Mavericks have four players (Leo Mireles, John Roberts, Raymond Jackson and Aaron Martinez) in the top-10 in assists.
