Perfect From The Stripe, Griffins Complete Road Sweep

DENVER, Colo.—Westminster's women's basketball team completed a road sweep with a 69-60 win over the Regis Rangers Saturday and clinched a RMAC tournament spot.

A third quarter surge proved definitive as the Griffins outscored the Rangers for a seven-point lead. Sarah McGinley's sparked a 10-2 run halfway through the period. Kaitlin Toluono and Kaylee Carlsen each made a pair of free throws and McGinley scored a layup plus one to cap off the run.

Regis got the lead down to four in the early minutes of the fourth but that was the closest they would come to a comeback. Westminster's lead stayed between eight and 11 points through the bulk of the quarter.

The Griffins made 14 trips and were perfect from the charity stripe. Kaylee Carlsen went 6-6, Kaitlin Toluono was 4-4, Mariah Martin was 3-3 and McGinley was 1-1.

Martin led the Griffins with 22 points, followed closely by Toluono with 18 and McGinley with 17.

Toluono averaged a double-double this weekend, grabbing 12 rebounds to lead the team. Hunter Krebs grabbed nine boards.

The Griffins complete the regular season at home Friday against in-state rival Dixie State.
