ST. GEORGE, Utah--The Westminster men's basketball team finished its 2019 season on the road at Dixie State. The Griffins finished the season 10-16 overall and 8-14 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC).
Westminster led for six minutes, and led by as much as five, through the middle of the first half. With 7:24 left before halftime, Dixie State regained the lead and finished the half with an eight-point advantage.
With only seven points in the opening 12 minutes of the second half, Westminster fell behind by its largest deficit, 57-33. The Griffins made a 18-7 point run to finish the game and reduce the home sides lead by nearly half and a Trailblazer win, 64-51.
Westminster improved its offensive production in the second half from 33.33 percent to 45.45 from the field and making 4-13 threes compared to the 1-8 from the first half.
Brandon Warr led the team in scoring with 11 points.
Alec Monson came second with nine points and
Jai Jai Ely and
Joonas Tahvanainen both scored eight points.
Tahvanainen led the team in rebounds grabbing seven boards. Warr came second with six boards and Monson pulled down four.
Westminster finished 12th in the RMAC standings.
