DURANGO, Colo.—Westminster's men's basketball lost a seven-point first half lead in defeat to Fort Lewis.
The Griffins shot an amazing 70 percent from three-point range to build a seven-point first half lead.
Jai Jai Ely was 2-2,
Jake Connor and
Alec Monson were 2-3 and
Brandon Warr was 1-2 from beyond the arc. The Griffins led by as much as 11 points before finishing the half in the lead, 37-30.
Westminster's fortunes changed in the second half as things cooled off and they went 3-10 for three. The score was tied three times in the opening minutes as the teams fought for control. The Skyhawks took the final lead of the game with 14:30 to go and finished for the win, 74-67.
Connor and Warr finished in double-figures for the Griffins. Connor led all players with 17 points making 3-6 from three and finishing 7-10 from the field. Warr scored 16 points making 3-6 from three, 5-9 from the field and 3-5 from the charity stripe.
Joonas Tahvanainen recorded his first double-double of the season. He led the team with 11 rebounds and scored 14 points shooting 7-14.
