ST. GEORGE—Westminster men's soccer season came to a disappointing end in the RMAC Championship Quarterfinals at the hands of Dixie State. The Griffins finished 10-7-2 and 7-4-2 in conference.
The Griffins and Trailblazers met for the third time this season. Westminster won the first meeting in overtime, 2-1. Dixie came out victorious in the second meeting 2-0.
Westminster and Dixie played to a scoreless draw in the first half. The Griffins registered five shots and the Trailblazers registered seven. Both teams had two shots on goal but were saved by goalkeepers Weill Desantis and
Zach Nielsen.
The Griffins finished the game with 10 men after
Gavin Flitton was sent off for his second yellow card in the 76
th minute. Seven minutes later Moises Medina scored on a 31-yard free kick for a 1-0 lead.
Westminster finished the game with four shots but were unable to score to tie the game.
Bridger Hansen led the team with three shots. Hansen,
Reid Arne,
Kaden Amano and
Brody Nelson each had a shot on goal.
