Griffins Begin RMAC Play at Dixie State

SALT LAKE CITY – Westminster men's basketball will begin conference play this weekend, as the Griffins will head south to St. George, Utah to take on Dixie State on Saturday, Nov. 30.

The Griffins (5-1) are off to a strong start to the season, but are coming of their first loss – a 75-71 loss to Lake Superior State. Westminster, down by as many as 15 points, pulled to within one in the last few minutes of the game, but their comeback effort came up just short.

Brandon Warr is leading the Griffins, averaging 18.3 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. Jai Jai Ely is chipping in 14.5 points per game, and Alec Monson and Jake Connor are averaging 12.5 and 12.3 points per game, respectively.

Dixie State is unbeaten in 2019 at 5-0. The Trailblazers have five players averaging double figures, led by Hunter Schofield's 17.2 points per game. Jack Pagenkopf does everything for Dixie State, averaging 10.2 points, 8.8 rebounds, 8.2 assists and 1.6 steals per game. He leads the team in rebounds, assists and steals.

The Trailblazers were picked to finish second in the preseason RMAC Coaches Poll, and the Griffins were tabbed the 11th best team in the conference.

Saturday's game will tip off at 7:30 p.m. and will be streamed live on the RMAC Network.
