Box Score SALT LAKE CITY – Westminster men's basketball beat Alaska-Fairbanks 89-77 behind a game-high 26 points from
Brandon Warr, as the Griffins improved to 5-0 on Friday night at Behnken Field House.
The Griffins never trailed, scoring the game's first 8 points and extending the lead to 12-2 in the first minutes.
Jake Connor led Westminster in the first half with 8 points, including two 3-pointers. The Griffins shot 53.1 percent and took 15-point lead into the locker room.
Warr came out firing to start the second half, scoring 5 straight on back-to-back buckets as the lead grew to 20. Warr scored 19 of his 26 points in the second half. He also added 8 rebounds and 3 assists.
Jai Jai Ely added 15 points,
Brandon Willardson had 12 points and 8 rebounds, and
Jake Connor finished with 10 points. Alex Monson filled the stat sheet with 7 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 blocks and 2 steals. The Griffins shots a scorching 59.3 percent from the field in the victory.
Alaska-Fairbanks got 19 points from Shadeed Shabazz and 15 points from Spencer Sweet in the loss.
Westminster hosts Lake Superior State University tomorrow night, with tip off scheduled for 7:30 p.m. The game will be streamed live on
Griffin TV.
