ALAMOSA, Colo.—Westminster women's basketball survived a late Adams State rally to win, 61-57. Westminster led by 16 points, with 3:22 remaining, until a late 15-2 run cut the Griffins lead to four. Westminster improves to 14-7 in the RMAC and 15-10 overall.
Both teams started the first quarter even. The score was tied five times and the lead changed hands twice during the first quarter.
Hannah Anderl scored twice in the final 30 seconds to put the Griffins up by four.
Westminster and Adams State traded baskets for the first five minutes of the second half. Westminster jumped out in front, making a 13-5 run, and ending the first half up by 10 points, 31-21.
Westminster went 13-24 from the field, made 1-1 from beyond the arc and was perfect from the stripe on four attempts.
Sydnee Taylor,
Hunter Krebs and Anderl each had six points, leading the Griffin offense.
Westminster scored 16 points in the third quarter and increased its lead by six going in to the fourth quarter.
The Griffins looked comfortable maintaining its lead during the fourth quarter, leading by 17 points with 3:22 remaining. Westminster turned the ball over eight times as the Grizzlies began to press, making a 15-2 run to finish the game. Westminster did enough to hold on for the win, despite the late rally by Adams State.

Westminster finished the night shooting 55.6 percent from the field, making 2-5 from beyond the arc, and perfect from the line on nine attempts. The team pulled down 30 rebounds, 11 steals, 5 blocked shots and 16 assists.
Westminster shared the workload scoring. Krebs led the team with 14 points and Anderl was second with 10.
Kaylee Carlsen and
Denise Gonzalez each scored nine and Taylor scored eight.
Sicilee Williams scored five,
Hillary Weixler had four and
Max Shelley had two.
Gonzalez led the team pulling down six rebounds. Anderl collected five boards, Krebs collected four and Williams and Taylor each pulled down three.
Westminster finishes the season at Fort Lewis on Saturday. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 5:30 p.m. and will be broadcast on the RMAC Network. Live stats will also be available online.
