Regular Season RMAC Champions Will Be Decided on Saturday
With two games remaining in the 2018 season, the Westminster men's basketball team has an opportunity to finish first in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. (RMAC). Westminster is second with a 16-4 conference record, just behind Fort Lewis (17-4) and ahead of Regis (15-5). The Griffins finish the season against Adams State on Thursday and Fort Lewis on Friday.
Westminster wins the regular season if it:
- Defeats Adams State and Fort Lewis, finishing with an 18-4 record
OR
- Loses to Adams State, Defeats Fort Lewis, and Regis losses one of its remaining games, finishing with a 17-5 record, tied with Fort Lewis.
Westminster would hold the head-to-head tie-breaker, having swept Fort Lewis during the regular season, and rise to the top.
Fort Lewis will win the regular season if it:
A three-team tie between Westminster, Fort Lewis, and Regis if:
- Westminster Falls to Adams State
- Westminster defeats Fort Lewis
- Regis wins both of its games
Final standings would be decided by RMAC tie-breaker rules.
Both games will be broadcast on the RMAC Network and available through live stats.
ABOUT THE GRIFFINS
The Griffins are the 10
th scoring offense in the RMAC, averaging 76.5 points per game. They are second in the conference shooting in field goal, three-point and free throw percentage—shooting 49.3 percent from the field, 41.1 percent from three, and 80.1 percent from the free throw line.
Dayon Goodman leads the conference in scoring with 674 points, averaging 28.1 points per game. Goodman ranks second, in the conference, in rebounding, free-throw percentage, and field goal percentage. Goodman would be ranked second nationally in points per game and third for total field goals made. He would be fifth for total points scored.
Quincy Bair is second on the team with 268 points, averaging 11.2 points per game.
Sam Orchard has scored 234 points, averaging 9.8 points per game.
Westminster is the top team defensively in the RMAC, only allowing 67.2 points per game. They average 34.6 rebounds per game and recorded a 6.2 rebound margin, the number one margin in the conference. The Griffins average 13.0 points off turnovers, 4.6 steals and 3.0 blocked shots.
Goodman leads the team with 204 rebounds, 33 steals, and 21 blocked shots. Bair has pulled down 129 rebounds and blocked 20 shots.
Mason Smith is third on the team with 98 rebounds.

- Brandon Sly ranks fourth and Shane Johnson ranks fifth in the RMAC for scoring

- Westminster is 2-2 against Adams since joining the RMAC in 2015
- Adams State is 8-2 at home.

- Fort Lewis is 17-4 in the RMAC and 21-5 overall
- Rasmus Bach leads the team in scoring, averaging 14.6 points per game.
- Brandon Wilson ranks third and Marquel Beasley ranks 10th in RMAC in rebounding.
- Beasley ranks number one in the conference for field goal percentage, shooting 56.4 percent.
- Westminster is 2-2 against Fort Lewis since joining the RMAC in 2015
- The Skyhawks are 13-0 at home.
