ST. GEORGE--Westminster overcame a seven-point first-half deficit to defeat Academy of Art, 56-50. The Griffins improved to 2-2 heading into the conference season.
Academy of Art finished the first half seven-points ahead of Westminster after four lead changes. Westminster shot 33.33 percent from the field, 20 percent from three and 50 percent from the free throw line.
Brandon Warr hit a three to begin the second half and began a 10-point run to erase the deficit with points from
Jacob McCord,
Joonas Tahvanainen and
Jai Jai Ely. The Griffins held the lead the rest of the game for a six-point win, 56-50.
Brandon Warr scored 12 points to lead the Griffins in scoring for the second straight game.
Alec Monson and Ely both scored nine points.
Monson grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Westminster on the boards. Warr grabbed seven and Ely grabbed six.
Westminster will begin conference play against Dixie State on Dec. 1 at home in the Behnken Field House.
