GOLDEN, Colo.--A historic season came to an end for the Westminster women's soccer team on Friday. Dallas Baptist scored a first-half goal to defeat Westminster in the first-round of the NCAA Division II College Cup.
The Griffins recorded their highest regular-season finish since joining the RMAC in 2015. They also qualified for the NCAA Division II College cup in their first year of eligibility as an active member of th NCAA Division II.
Westminster had a slow start to the game and conceded a first-half goal to Dallas Baptist in the 30th minute.
The Griffins came to life in the second half with 10 shots and three corner-kicks.
Sara Weixler came close when her shot went inches wide of the far-post. Minutes later
Jayde Jones hit the crossbar. Weixler came close again, in the 84th minute, but her shot was saved by the goalkeeper. The save fell to
Emma Heyn who had two chances blocked by a defender.
Westminster was unable to score and the game finished in defeat, 1-0.
