THIS WEEK
What a season it's been for the Westminster Griffins Women's Soccer as they wrapped up their 2018 regular season with a 3-1 victory over Colorado Mesa. With a record of 10-2-1 in their first ever season as a member of NCAA Division Two the Griffins finished third in the conference standings. After finishing the season in third place the Griffins earned an opportunity to host round one of the RMAC Tournament on Oct. 30 when they face the Regis Rangers at 3:00 PM MDT with the action on the
RMAC Network.
LAST TIME THEY MET
Last time these two team met it was in Denver, Colorado on Sept. 23 as the game went to overtime where it was a very evened match throughout as each team scored back and forth with Regis scoring the first goal at the 27
thminute and then
Abby Keeley evened the score at the 43
rdminute to end the first half. The second half the Rangers once again took early lead with a goal by Cat Devitt four minutes into the second half, but the Griffins clawed back with a goal by
Libby Dearden which sent the game into overtime.
Aimee Kurfurst scored the game winning goal five minutes into overtime to secure the victory for the Westminster Griffins.
SCOUTING RANGERS
The Rangers enter the RMAC Tournament as the sixth seed when they travel to Salt Lake City with a record of 7-5-1. They were just two points shy from being tied for third and fourth place in the standings. Regis is coming off a 2-1 victory over MSU-Denver and a 1-3 loss at UCCS this past weekend.
Tori Rinsem leads the team with six goals on 32 shots. 17 of those shots were on goal.
Emily Ramos leads the team with eight assists and added two goals.
LOOKING AHEAD
With a win the Griffins would turn their attention to the semifinals and finals taking place on Friday, Nov. 2 and Sunday, Nov. 4 with highest remaining seed hosting.
