SPEARFISH, S.D.—Westminster men's basketball defeats Black Hills State (11-6, 8-5 RMAC), improving to 14-2 overall and 10-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
 
The first half teetered back and forth as both teams tried to establish control.  Westminster held the lead at the end of the first half and didn't relinquish it to earn the road victory over the Yellow Jackets, 66-58.
 
The lead changed hands four times in the first half, with neither team being able to pull away from one another.  The largest scoring run of the half went to Westminster during a four minute Black Hills scoring drought.  Dayon Goodman and Quincy Bair each scored six points in the final eight minutes of the half to help give the Griffins a six point lead with 0:26 remaining. 
 
Fraser Malcolm, of Black Hills State, hit a long 3-pointer at the death of the first half, cutting Westminster's lead to three points, 27-24.
 
Close to seven minutes into the second half, the Griffins made a nine-point run for a 12 point lead.  The Griffins would keep a double digit lead for nearly nine minutes, including their largest lead of the game, 16 points, with 1:45 remaining.
 
Westminster was 49.0 percent from the field, 30.0 percent from beyond the arc and 72.2 percent from the free throw line.  Black Hills state shot 32.1 percent from the field, 20.6 percent from three-point range and 88.2 percent from the line.
 
Goodman had a slow start in the first half, scoring six of his eight points in the final eight minutes.  He finished the game with 20 points, leading the Griffins, and 10 rebounds, marking his sixth double-double of the season.
 
Quincy Bair was second on the scoresheet with 12 points, shooting 50.0 percent from the field and perfect from the free throw line.
