Box Score SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster women's soccer team (1-1) wrapped up the two-game home stand with a 2-0 victory over
Davenport (Mich.) (0-2) on Monday afternoon at Dumke Field.
Ellie Echeverio would put the Griffins on the board first with a goal at the 51:02 mark off a corner kick assist from
Sara Weixler. Shortly thereafter,
Sara Weixler would put the Griffins up 2-0 in the 54th minute with a cross from the right side off a set play header assisted by
Gabriella Sorensen.
Westminster had a 14-6 advantage in shots on the day and they were able to put six of those on goal. They took seven corner kicks, while the Panthers finished with five.
Emily Pascua would get four shots off with one on goal, while
Abi Black and
Sara Weixler had two apiece.
Breanna Empey made two saves to earn the win in goal.
The Griffins head out on their
first road trip of the season with games verse
St. Martins (Lacey, Wash.) on Friday at 4:00 pm MT and 2:00 pm MT on Sunday against
Simon Fraser (Burnaby, BC).
