Dayon Goodman scored 33 points to lead the Westminster men's basketball team to an 87-74 win over Regis on Saturday night in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play.

Westminster (15-7, 15-5 RMAC) secured a top-4 finish in the RMAC standings with its 10th win in the last 11 outings. They are two games out of first with two games to play and one game behind CSU-Pueblo for the No. 3 spot.

Goodman had it going early on Saturday as he scored 10 of the Griffins first 14 points to have the team in front by five less than six minutes into the game. Later in the half, the Griffins mounted a 10-0 run that concluded with an alley-oop dunk and then banked 3-pointer from
Mason Smith and a lead of 14.

It was Goodman again early in the second half to put the game away. The junior had 18 points with a 6-minute stretch that featured a three on three consecutive possessions and a total of four during the run.

The 33 points scored by Goodman are the most by a Griffin in a game since January 24, 2015 and are the 12th-most since the program was reinstated in 1999. Goodman made 13 of 20 shots – including 4 of 5 from beyond the arc – while also grabbing seven rebounds with three blocked shots, two assists, and two steals.

Westminster was clicking on offense for most of the night as they shot 53.1 percent as a team. They connected on 9 of 20 from beyond the arc and had a 42-24 edge in points in the paint. The Griffins won the boards 38-25 and had 23 assists to just eight turnovers.

Two other Griffins also scored in double figures with
Casey Evans adding 19 and
Marcus Bryce getting 17. Bruce added nine rebounds and two blocked shots with Evans grabbing five boards with three assists.
Zerrion Payton had seven assists.

The Griffins held Regis to 38.5 percent shooting despite the Rangers hitting 18 of 34 in the second half. Regis had 19 offensive rebounds and 17 points with 12 assists and 10 turnovers.

Kevin Metoyer led the Rangers with 21 points off the bench with 4 of 8 shooting from three.
