Westminster Hosts Johnson & Wales-Denver
The Westminster men's basketball team will host Johnson & Wales-Denver on Friday and Saturday. Johnson & Wales-Denver is an NAIA team. Friday's game is scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m. MST and Saturday's game is scheduled to tip off at 3 p.m. MST, in the Behnken Field House.Â
Tickets can be purchased in advance on online or at the door prior to the game.

About the Griffins
Westminster is in its third year as a member of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference at the NCAA Division II level. Last year the Griffins finished fourth in the RMAC standings with a 16-8 overall and 16-6 RMAC record. The Griffins went 8-3 at home, 8-3 away, and 0-2 at neutral venue. Â

Dayon Goodman and
Jarred Laws each started all 24 games last year.

Goodman was the team leader in points, rebounds and blocks. Goodman ranked fifth in blocked shots, averaging 1.4 per game, and 6th in rebounds, averaging 7.1 per game, in the RMAC.
Westminster opponents averaged 70.2 points per game in 2016-17 and shot 40.0 percent from the floor. The Griffins averaged 36.3 rebounds per game, 3.8 blocks and 14.6 assists per game.
The Griffins have been picked to finish fourth in the RMACÂ Preseason Coaches poll.

Week in Review
The Griffins played Brigham Young University on November 1 at the Marriott Center in Provo. The Griffins came out timid and got off to a slow start shooting 29.6 percent from the floor and scoring 21 points. The Griffins improved in the second half outscoring the Cougars 41 to 38 and shooting 48.3 percent. The final score was in favor of the Cougars, 76-62.
Quincy Bair finished the match with 17 points and one assist. With only three points in the first half, Goodman turned his game around in the second and finished the night with 16 points, nine rebounds and 4 assists.Â
Mason Smith scored 11 points with one assist and one steal.Â

Looking Ahead
The next games for the Griffins will be played over the Thanksgiving break in the Westminster Thanksgiving Classic. Westminster and Dixie State will play Dickinson State and Seattle Pacific on Friday and Saturday, November 24-25. Westminster plays Dickinson state on Friday and Seattle Pacific on Saturday. Both games are scheduled for tip off at 7 p.m. MST in the Benhken Field House.
