ALAMOSA, COLO. – Westminster Griffins volleyball lost, 3-1, to the Adams State Grizzlies. The Griffins won the third set to extend the match to a fourth and final set. The Griffin's record is 5-15 overall and 2-10 in conference play, while the Grizzlies improve to 10-11 overall and 6-6 in the RMAC.
The first three sets were very close. The score was tied 22 times during the first three sets of the evening. The Grizzlies won the first two sets, 25-20 and 25-19. The Griffins responded winning set three 25-22. The fourth set was the only set that the Grizzlies led the entire time winning the set, 25-19, and the match, 3-1.
"I am really proud of my players and their effort tonight, against a good Adams State team," Head Coach
Al Givens said. "Now the task is to repeat this performance on Saturday."
Megan Gallegos led the defensive efforts for the Griffins with 21 digs.
Amara Spere led the attack with 16 kills.
Amber Lamborn had a solid night contributing 12 kills and two service aces. and
Audrey Green, after a slow start, helped with 15 kills and 1 service ace.
The Griffins have played two of their five road games and travel to Durango for a match against the Fort Lewis Skyhawks on Saturday evening at 5 PM. The game will be broadcast on the
