Â
Last Week in Review
Â
Last Firday the Griffins competed with South Dakota School of Mines. South Dakota got their first conference win, beating the Griffins 3-2. The first set went in favor of the Griffins, winning 25-15. The Hardrockers came back fiercely in the second set to win 25-23. The next two sets were split. Set three went in favor of the Griffins, 25-22, and the fourth set went to the Hardrockers 25-22. The Griffins were winning 14-10 in the fifth set, but 6 unanswered points would swing the result in favor of the Hardrockers, 16-14.
Â
The Griffins had less than 24 hours to be ready to play Black Hills State. The effects of a long and emotional match the night before effected the Griffins as they were defeated 3-1 by the Yellow Jackets. The first set was won by Black Hills State, 25-17. Head Coach
Al Givens was pleased with the team as they fought back and won the second set 26-24 but lost a close third set, 25-22. The Yellow Jackets won the fourth set, 25-17, to win the match.
Audrey Green had 49 kills, Amare Spere had 29 kills, and
Taylor Harvey tallied 13 kills over the weekend.Â
Taylor Gustafson had 97,
Megan Gallegos tallied 37 digs,
Hannah Stearman contributed 21 digs, and
Amber Lamborn was responsible for 20 digs and 8 kills.
Â
Scouting
Â
CSU-Pueblo have struggled at home with a 1-9 record. This could be a good chance for the griffins to get their first away win of the season. The Griffins hold a slight edge in Kills per set, 12.3 to 10.86, and a .167 hitting percentage to Pueblo's .147 hitting percentage.
Â
Adams State has an 8-11 overall and 4-6 conference record. The Griffins defense will need to be sharp against the Grizzlies attacking trio of Mallory Grimsrud with 254 kills, Hannah Goddard with 205 kills and Katelyn Schwartz with 483 assists.
Â
Fort Lewis is 8-10 overall and 3-7 in RMAC action. They are coming off of a 4 game losing streak and have been better away, 4-2, than they have been at home, 1-5. It will be an entertaining match as both teams look pretty even on paper and split matches last year.
Â
Looking Ahead
Â
Women's volleyball will complete their five game road trip on Thursday at Western State Colorado and Saturday at Colorado Mesa. The team will enjoy finishing the last three games of the season at home.  When available, games will be broadcast on the
RMACÂ Network and can be followed through live stats.
