NAMPA, Idaho – The Westminster men's soccer team fell behind early and lost at Northwest Nazarene 4-1 on Saturday evening at the NNU Soccer Field.

Northwest Nazarene (2-1-1) took the lead in the eighth minute when Keon Jones got behind the Westminster (1-2) defense and put his shot away. NNU would strike twice more in the opening half to lead 3-0 at intermission.

The Griffins would pull one back in the 64th minute when
Hunter Kone delivered a free kick into the area where
Matthew Warne got his head on the end and redirected it home for his first goal of the season.

NNU added a final insurance goal in the 89th minute when Linus Mansson rebounded a shot off the post for the final tally.

Westminster took 10 shots in the game and they were able to get six of goal. They allowed 13 shots by the Crusaders with the home side putting seven on target. Each team took three corner kicks.

Sean Lyne suffered the loss in goal for the Griffins with two saves.

The Griffins will now turn their attention to conference play as they face UCCS in the RMAC opener on Friday in Colorado Springs, Colo.
