SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster women's volleyball team saw its season come to an end with a five-set loss to Colorado State – Pueblo on Saturday evening in the Behnken Field House.
Westminster finishes its season at 4-23 overall with the 28-26, 16-25, 25-19, 21-25, 13-15 defeat. They finished 14th in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference with a 2-16 record.
Saturday's match was fairly even throughout the contest as the teams played through 24 ties and 11 lead changes. Four of the five sets featured at least five ties, including seven ties in the first and six more in the third.
The Griffins would see three players record double figures in kills as they went for 55 on the night – the second-most they have had this season.
Aubrey Louder led the way with a career-high 20 with .286 hitting.
CSU-Pueblo (12-15, 10-8 RMAC) finished the match with 64 kills and .201 hitting. They also had a 14-10 edge in blocks to help overcome 87 digs and seven aces from the Griffins.
Amara Spere finished with 14 kills and 11 digs in defeat.
Sydnee Simmons added 10 kills and two blocks.
Hannah Stearman posted a career-high 26 digs while
Amber Lamborn and
Savannah Ipsen had 18 and 17 respectively. Lamborn added three aces and
Katie Allen had six blocks.
The visiting ThunderWolves got 20 kills and 23 digs from Caitlin Broadwell. They kept their chances at a berth in the RMAC Tournament alive with the win.
