SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster women's basketball team won its second straight home game with a 76-54 win against Adams State in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference action in the Behnken Field House on Friday night.

Westminster (6-8, 3-7 RMAC) led 19-4 after the opening quarter as they held the visitors to only one basket in the period. The Griffins put a 15-2 run together to close the half and start the third quarter and had Adams State (2-11, 1-9) in 46-15 hole.

It was the second-best shooting night of the season for the Griffins as they made 52.7 percent from the field. They went 10 of 16 from beyond the arc with the 62.5 percent ranking as the second-best 3-point percentage in a game in school history.

Denise Gonzalez led four Griffins in double figures with 16 points on 6 of 8 shooting. The freshman added four assists, four steals, and three rebounds to her line.
Aubrie Vale and
Natalie Parsons scored 13 points apiece and they each made three triples.
KC Gubler added a career high 10 points.

The Griffins held ASU to 32.1 percent shooting and forced them into 21 turnovers which resulted in 23 points. Westminster had a 41-29 edge in rebounds and tallied 18 assists and 12 steals.

Lena Jaycox led ASU with 13 points and four steals.
