SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster women's soccer team lost 1-0 to Weber State on Friday evening in the first of two exhibition games at Dumke Field this weekend.
Westminster will host Idaho State in their final exhibition contest on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
Despite Weber State (1-2) recording a 15-6 edge in first-half shots, the teams headed to intermission scoreless. The visiting Wildcats broke through in the 73rd minute when Olivia Hoddy played a ball into the area where Madison Garlock put her shot inside the far post for her first goal of the season.
The Griffins had a couple of opportunities from distance down the stretch, but they weren't able to crack the Weber keeper, Nikki Pittman.
Rylei North led the Griffins with three shots with
Madison Roemer getting off two attempts with one on goal.
McKell Kellogg had the Griffins other shot on goal in the game.
All three Westminster keepers got time in the match with
Abi Yanke and
Hillary Weixler making three saves apiece.
Breanna Empey had one stop and Weixler allowed the game's only goal.
