SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster men's soccer team closed out the exhibition season with a 1-0 loss to Great Falls (Mont.) on Sunday afternoon at Dumke Field.
Westminster was only able to get three shots away with two of them on goal. Great Falls (1-1) finished the afternoon with 21 shot attempts and they managed 11 shots on frame.
UGF tallied the game's only goal in the 78th minute when Jon-Eric Krans played a cross into the penalty area where Jordan Byland directed it in the goal for his first goal of the season.
Taylor Ruff kept the Griffins in the game by making 10 saves. He made seven of those saves in the second half to keep the game within reach. Braxten Ramirex and
Brody Nelson each had one shot on goal while
Hunter Stutz got away the other Griffin shot.
Westminster will now turn its attention to the regular season opener on September 5 against Hope International (Calif.) at Dumke Field. Tickets for the game are available now at
