SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster men's soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Carroll (Mont.) in an exhibition contest at Dumke Field on Saturday afternoon.
Westminster, now 0-2 in exhibition games this week, struggled maintain possession throughout the contests as Carroll (1-1) finished the day with an 18-2 edge in shot attempts. Carroll broke through in the 49th minute when Chris Brayton put the ball away after a scrum from a corner kick.
After Jose Porras saw his header shot stopped by Westminster keeper
Sean Speirs, Brayton found the loose ball and headed it home for his first goal of the season.
Speirs made seven stops in the game to keep the Griffins close.
Jaden Olsen and Josh Eddy had the Westminster shots with both being put on frame.
Westminster will close the exhibition season on Sunday when they face Great Falls (Mont.) in a noon match at Dumke Field. Tickets for the game are available at WestminsterGriffins.com/tickets.
