SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster women's basketball team had its worst offensive night since 2010 and fell to Colorado Mesa, 60-40, in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opener for both teams in the Behnken Field House on Saturday night.

Westminster (3-2, 0-1 RMAC) led for parts of the opening quarter before ending the period down 17-16. Colorado Mesa (4-1, 1-0) would then hold the Griffins to just 24 points in the next three quarters to snap their nine-game home winning streak.

The Griffins only shot 27.3 percent from the field, their lowest since shooting 19.6 percent against Vanguard in 2010. They also made just 1 of 22 (4.5 percent) from beyond the arc and missed their final 14 attempts, including all 12 in the second half.

Colorado Mesa finished the game shooting 50 percent from the floor, the first team to achieve that mark in 33 games. The Mavericks would go 10 of 18 (55.6 percent) from beyond the arc and out-rebound the Griffins 38-28 despite 11 offensive rebounds by the Griffins.

Denise Gonzalez led Westminster with 14 points and
Mika Pinner added 10 points and seven rebounds.
Jessica Sorensen added seven points and seven rebounds with six boards coming on the offensive end.
Sicilee Williams also scored seven points off the bench.

Colorado Mesa got 16 points and eight rebounds from Bryanna Adams and 10 points by Siu Lo'amanu.
