LAKEWOOD, Colo. – The Westminster women's basketball team had a tough night shooting the basketball in a 69-45 loss at Colorado Christian in a Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference game on Friday night.

Westminster (4-4, 1-3 RMAC) only shot 28.6 percent from the field and made on five of their 22 attempts from beyond the arc. Colorado Christian (5-3, 2-2) scored 24 points from 21 Griffin turnovers and they shot 43.1 percent from the floor.

Riley Reidhead led the Griffins with a career high 16 points on 5 of 8 shooting. She was 4 of 6 from three and had two offensive rebounds.
Mika Pinner and
Denise Gonzalez scored seven points apiece and
Jessica Sorensen grabbed nine rebounds.

The Griffins only lead of the night came at 2-0. They trailed 10-6 after the opening qarter and then tied the game at 15-15 with 6:02 remaining in the first half. CCU then closed the half with a 13-2 run and took a 28-17 lead into intermission.

The Cougars advantage remained in double figures for the rest of the night as they outscored Westminster 21-7 in the third quarter.

Claire Paxton had 12 points and Alex Nelson added 11 for the victorious Cougars.

Westminster will return to action on Saturday when they play at Colorado School of Mines at 5 p.m. MT in Golden, Colo.
