DES MOINES, Iowa – The Westminster men's soccer team fell behind early and dropped a 3-0 decision at No. 12 Grand View (Iowa) on Saturday evening in the second game of their three-game road trip.
Westminster (7-3-1) entered the game winners of two straight, but they quickly found themselves behind when Paul Riesthuis scored in the seventh minute to give the Grand View (5-1) the 1-0 lead.
The home squad would push the lead to 2-0 in the 11th minute when Sam Blackman converted a penalty kick. Brian Lee would then provide the third tally by the Vikings in the 64th minute.
Grand View controlled much of the action and they finished the game with a 32-7 edge in total shots. The Griffins only got one of their seven shots on goal with GVU posting 10 shots on goal.
Logan Butzier suffered his first loss of the season in goal for the Griffins despite making 10 saves.
Westminster will close out the road trip on Sunday when they face Bellevue (Neb.) at 2 p.m. MT.
