HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The Westminster women's soccer team used a goal from
Abby Holbrook late in the second half to claim a 1-0 win over SCAD Savannah (Ga.) on Saturday night.
Westminster (2-0) duplicated the result of the season opening win at Weber State last week by using a second-half goal from Holbrook to secure a 1-0 victory. This goal was the second career goal for Holbrook and her second game-winner.
The Griffins finished the game with a 10-7 edge in shot attempts and they put four of those shots on goal.
Lexi Tucker led the team with four shots (one on goal) with
Heidi Lorschider and
Nicole Carter each taking two shots.
SCAD Savannah (2-2) only got two of their seven shots on frame with both being stopped by the Griffins keeper,
Abi Yanke. The junior keeper moved to 2-0 on the season with her 10th-career shutout.
Westminster will complete their road trip on Monday when they travel to Bulffton, S.C. for a 9 a.m. MT contest with South Carolina Beaufort.
