CALDWELL, Idaho – The Westminster men's basketball team was seconds away from their first win of the season when College of Idaho banked in a three at the end of regulation and then pulled away in overtime to win 80-68.

Westminster, the NAIA D-I 15th-ranked team, is now 0-5 on the season while the D-II No. 7 squad, College of Idaho, improves to 8-0.

After shooting 50 percent in the first half to lead 34-31 at intermission, the Griffins would grow the lead to a game-high nine at 44-35 with 16:42 to play in the second half. C of I would then storm back with a 22-6 spurt over the next 12 minutes to lead 57-50 with 4:23 remaining.

The Griffins answered with threes by
Kenny Woodard and
Jordan Pryor and a bucket by
Quincy Bair. Woodard also made four free throws, including two with 10 seconds on the clock that put his team ahead 62-59. The home squad then forced overtime when Demetrius Perkins banked in a three as time expired to send the contest into overtime.

Sydney Donaldson made three triples in the first 2:13 of the extra period and Marko Kovacevic finished at the rim and the Yotes raced out to an 11-point advantage. Co of I outscored the Griffins 18-6 in the extra period to equal their best start in school history.

Woodard finished the game with 19 points to lead the Griffins. He was 4-of-10 from the field with three treys while making all eight of his free throw attempts. Bair added 15 points with three assists and two steals.
Nick Jenson went for nine points and seven rebounds.

Josh Wilson led the Yotes with a game-high 20 points. Donaldson had 17 points and was 4-of-4 from beyond the arc.

Westminster will look to snap its longest losing skid to start a season on Saturday when they face Northwest Nazarene University (Idaho) at 5 p.m. MT.
