BUTTE, Mont. – The Westminster women's volleyball team saw its season come to an end with a three-set loss to Carroll (Mont.) in the quarterfinals of the Frontier Conference Tournament on Friday night at Kelvin Sampson Court.
The sixth-seeded Griffins will end their season at 10-18 overall after the 25-19, 25-19, 27-25 loss. Carroll, the tournament's No. 3 seed, advances to a semifinal matchup with No. 2-seed Lewis-Clark State (Idaho) on Saturday at 2 p.m. MT.
The Griffins just didn't have an answer for the offensive attack of Carroll as they allowed the Saints to hit .254 in the match and post 47 kills. Westminster only recorded 36 kills in defeat and they finished the night hitting .132. Both teams had seven blocks, but Carroll posted a 66-51 advantage in digs.
Alexis Aalona and
Jessica Chellsen led the Griffins with nine kills apiece. Aalona had her double-double streak snapped at 12 straight, but her nine digs gave the senior 1,000 for her career.
Rachel Enloe gave Westminster a spark with eight kills and .300 hitting.
Sarah Roshak led Carroll with 10 kills while Holly Morehouse and Crystal Schmidt finished with nine apiece.
