BUTTE, Mont. – The Westminster women's volleyball team rallied from a 2-1 deficit to pick up their first conference road win of the season with a 23-25, 25-19, 21-25, 27-25, 19-17 win at Montana Tech on Saturday afternoon at Sampson Court.
Westminster (9-11, 3-4 Frontier) finished the afternoon with a season-high 65 kills and they hit .203 in the match. The Griffins hit .276 and .279 in the first two sets respectively before closing out the win by hitting .280 with 11 kills in the fifth set. They also recorded nine service aces and held Montana Tech (8-11, 3-4) to 58 kills.
Alexis Aalona led the Griffins with a career-high 25 kills and she hit .396 on the day. The senior added 12 digs for her ninth double-double of the season and fourth straight.
Jessica Chellsen added 13 kills while
Desiree Wickwar and
Alyse Horton finished with nine kills apiece.
Korey Krumm led Tech with 18 kills on .563 hitting while Sydney Norris posted 12 kills.
The Griffins will take next week off before returning to action on Oct. 16 when they welcome No. 1 Rocky Mountain (Mont.) to the Behnken Field House.
