Volleyball Opens Trip with Win at Great Falls

Box Score GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The Westminster College women's volleyball team began a two-game road trip to northern Montana with a win at Great Falls (Mont.) in four sets on Saturday night.

Westminster (8-9, 2-2 Frontier) snapped a two-match losing streak with the 25-20, 25-27, 25-19, 25-21 victory. They came out fast and hit .353 in the opening set en route to a season-high .299 hitting efficiency for the night. The Griffins hit .333 in sets three and four after posting a .205 efficiency in the second.

Along with hitting that season-best, Westminster notched 62 kills in the match and had four players in double figures. Alexis Aalona led the attack with 13 kills while hitting .345. Jovana Sisovic came through with 12 kills, six digs, and five blocks.

Mayra Ramirez posted 11 kills and led the team by hitting .474 and also getting three blocks. Alyse Horton added 11 kills and nine digs. Emily Atkinson paced the offense with 36 assists and Kyndall Kordakis led the way with 17 digs. Cassandra Fenton notched 15 assists and 10 digs for her first career double-double.

Great Falls (6-13, 1-4) was led by 13 kills from Alyssa McEwan. Maddie Wilhelm added 12 kills and 10 digs for the Argos.

Westminster will continue this weekend trip on Saturday with a 2 p.m. match at Montana State-Northern.
