GRIFFIN NOTEBOOK
Westminster enters the weekend at 4-5 on the season and 0-1 in Frontier Conference play. They split a pair of games at home last weekend. The Griffins have gone 4-3 at Dumke Field this season and are 3-3 against non-ranked opponents.

The Griffins have scored nine goals this season and recorded six assists on those goals. They are taking 11.1 shots per game and they put 47 percent of those chances on goal. Westminster has taken 48 corner kicks in 2013 to just 38 from the opposition.

Westminster opponents are scoring 1.56 goals per game with eight assists on 14 total goals. The opposition averages 10.8 shots per game with 56.7 percent of those being put on frame. Westminster averages 4.56 saves per contest and has recorded three shutouts to rank 19th in the country.

AGAINST THE OPPOSITION
The Griffins hold a 4-2-1 all-time record against Rocky Mountain. They are undefeated in three home games, including a 1-0 win last season at Dumke. The last meeting was a 1-1 tie on double overtime last October in Billings.

Westminster is 2-1 in three all-time meetings with Cal State San Marcos. The Cougars claimed a 3-0 win last season in San Marcos. The only other meeting in Salt Lake City was a 1-0 win by the Griffins in 2007.

LOOKING BACK
Westminster opened last weekend with a 4-0 win over Johnson & Wales (Colo.) last Friday. Anthony Alcox scored in the 13th minute for the game-winner. The Griffins also got a goal from Ryan Smith and a pair of goals from Henry Dankwa. Logan Butzier secured the shutout with three saves in goal.

The Griffins then opened Frontier Conference play with a 4-0 loss to Great Falls (Mont.) on Saturday. The Argonauts got a goal from Luis Torres in the second minute of the game and never looked back. Keaton Gallegos would play 85 minutes in goal and make two saves.

NEED TO STRIKE FIRST
In every game this season the team that has scored first has gone on to win that game. Only once this season has a game been tied after the first goal of the game was scored. That came in the Griffins 2-1 win over The Master's (Calif.) on Aug. 24. That game was also the only game this season that the losing team wasn't shutout.

SCORING FROM SMITH
Senior Ryan Smith continues to be the top scoring threat for the Griffins in 2013. Smith has scored four goals on the season while taking a team-best 32 shots. The senior notched the game-winner against Jamestown (N.D.) and now has seven winners in his Westminster career.

HELP FROM DUENAS
Junior Manuel Duenas notched his second career goal in the team's 2-1 win over The Master's. For Duenas, it was his first career game-winner and came on his first shot of the season. He recorded his first assist of the year against MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) as his service from a free kick led to the game-winner.

BUTZIER IN NET
Junior Logan Butzier has started in goal in seven of the team's nine games this season. He has compiled a 4-3 record in those starts with three shutouts. Butzier has notched a 1.13 goals-against-average with 27 saves. He stops 79.4 percent of all shots on goal.
