Season Ends with 4-3 Loss at Rocky Mountain

Box Score BILLINGS, Mont. – The Westminster College men's soccer team saw its season come to an end with a tough 4-3 loss at Rocky Mountain (Mont.) on Friday in the semi-finals of the Unaffiliated Conference Tournament.

After falling behind Rocky Mountain (13-3-1) 2-0 behind two Jack Clancy goals in the opening 19 minutes, Westminster was able to mount a rally in the second half. Ryan Smith would finish a penalty kick in the 48th minute to trim the Griffins (9-11) to 2-1.

Oliver Gore would push the Rocky advantage to 3-1 in the 51st minute before Trenton Petersen would get the Griffin back on the board with a goal set-up by Anthony Alcox in the 65th minute. Rocky would answer again in the 69th minute with a strike by Mikey Wall.

Westminster kept fighting back and Smith would score again in the 74th minute. He finished the tournament with five goals and he scored 14 goals for the season.

Rocky had a 17-9 edge in shots attempted with the Griffins putting four of those on frame. Logan Butzier took the loss in goal with four saves.

The Griffins finished the season at 9-11 overall with the loss.
