SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster College women's volleyball team opens the Frontier Conference Tournament against Carroll (Mont.) on Friday at 2 p.m. MST in the quarterfinals. Westminster is the tournament's No. 4 seed while Carroll in the No. 5 seed.

The entire tournament is being played in Great Falls, Mont. at the McLaughlin Center on the University of Great Falls campus. The Griffins finished the regular season at 16-13 overall and earned the fourth-seed by going 10-6 in Frontier Conference play. They have been hot of late, winning five of their last six matches and they are coming off a 3-0 sweep at Montana Tech last Saturday.

Carroll finished the regular season at 17-17 overall and fifth in the Frontier by going 9-7 in league play. They have also been playing well down the stretch as they closed the year with four straight victories after losing at Westminster on Oct. 26.

Westminster split the two regular season meetings with Carroll with both matches going five sets and the home team winning. This marks the fifth time in the past eight seasons that these two squads will meet in the conference tournament with Carroll holding a 3-2 edge in those meetings. Carroll ended the Griffins season with a five-set win in last year's quarterfinals.

The win of Friday's match will advance to a semi-final match on Saturday at 11 a.m. MST. The opponent will be the winner of Montana State-Northern and either Montana Western or Dickinson State (N.D.). The tournament championship match is slated for 7 p.m. MST on Saturday evening.
