Jessica Harris
Box Score SALT LAKE CITY – The Westminster College women's soccer team surrendered a halftime lead for the first time this season and lost 2-1 to Rocky Mountain (Mont.) in a Frontier Conference game at Dumke Field on Sunday morning.

Westminster (7-7-2, 2-1-2 Frontier) got on the board in the 22nd minute on the fourth goal of the season from Jessica Harris. Sadie Young played a corner kick into the box where Harris was able to redirect the ball into the goal for the early lead. The goal established a new career high for goals by Harris and was the first assist of the season for Young.

After trailing that 1-0 lead into halftime, the Griffins allowed the equalizer in the 50th minute. Rocky Mountain (9-3-2, 2-0-1) would level the match on an own goal by Westminster when Brianna Wilson attempted to clear a ball out of the penalty area and had it bounce off her head and then into the cross bar and in.

Rocky would then notch the game-winner in the 54th minute with a goal from Evelina Aberg. Mandi Acthen would play a cross that found Aberg for a shot inside the far post for the goal.

The Griffins would have several chances down the stretch. Abigail Black had two different redirections go just wide and then Harris had a header on another corner kick hit the cross bar and stay out. The final chance came on a header from Heidi Lorschider that was saved easily.

Westminster had 15 shots in the game with six of them on goal. They held Rocky to 10 shots and six shots on frame. Abi Yanke took the loss in goal for the Griffins with four saves.

The regular season will come to a close on Oct. 27 when the Griffins welcome Carroll (Mont.) to Dumke Field. The Senior Day game will begin at 2 p.m. with the senior class being recognized prior to the start of the game.
