Box Score LEWISTON, Idaho – The Westminster College women's volleyball team was swept in three sets by Lewis-Clark State College on Thursday evening in Frontier Conference action.
Westminster (8-5, 1-1 Frontier) dropped the match by scores of 20-25, 24-26, 23-25.
The Griffins finished the evening with 34 kills and a .145 hitting efficiency. Lewis-Clark State (6-5, 3-0) posted 42 kills while hitting .245. The Griffins added six service aces and 6.5 blocks, but were done in by the Warriors 55-40 edge in digs.
Kenzie Mitchell finished with 11 kills to lead the Griffins. She hit .320 in the match and had three blocks to go with her second double figure kill match of the season.
Alexis Aalona added eight kills and five digs and
Ashley Marchant chipped in six kills.
Kyndall Kordakis popped up 15 digs from her libero position.
Westminster hit a strong .235 in the first set, but they couldn't overcome a 16-10 deficit. They would trail 15-10 in the second set before coming back to level the frame at 20-20. The set would then be tied another four times before LCSC took the 26-24 win. The Griffins held a 22-20 lead in the third set before a 5-1 run by the Warriors earned them the sweep. Westminster hit just .081 in the final set while LCSC posted a .243 efficiency.
The Griffins will now travel to Butte, Mont. for a match against Montana Tech on Saturday. That match is slated to begin at 2 p.m. from Kelvin Sampson Court.
